Goals & Accomplishments

I like setting goals at the beginning of each year.  My lists tend to be lengthy, not because I plan to get everything done that’s there, but to record my ideas and thoughts.  I review my goals each month to prioritize my time.  Things will come up that are more important or satisfying; sometimes opportunities arise that suddenly make a goal something that can and should be accomplished now.

Here’s a post where I discuss goal setting in more detail.

I also like to celebrate my accomplishments.  It’s so easy to look at a list and obsess over what didn’t get done, without appreciating everything that DID get done.

Here’s one that I shared – decluttering my office – that while not a spectacular goal, nonetheless gave me a lot of satisfaction.

Set your goals – work at them – and enjoy what you’ve gotten done.  It’s your life to live and your life to enjoy.

You must accept that you might fail;
then, if you do your best and still don’t win,
at least you can be satisfied that you’ve tried.
If you don’t accept failure as a possibility,
you don’t set high goals, you don’t branch out,
you don’t try – you don’t take the risk.

    • Laverne – at the time I signed up, they didn’t have the cheaper option. I probably would have done that instead. But no, I didn’t finish it so I can’t comment as to if it’s worth it. It does provide a lot of value and the weekly phone calls also had a great deal of good information in them.

      As for not finishing it, I was planning a career change and found myself unexpectedly employed again. After 10+ hours a day on the computer at work, I couldn’t sit and write in my free time. Others can, but I could not.
