This week’s six word Friday uses the word “first”. For me, it’s an old saying that still is true today:
There’s a first time for everything.
My favorite boy toy and I were driving around the eastern seaboard near an area called Kilmarnock. It was a beautiful day and we were enjoying visiting and seeing the scenery.
And then we drove past this! I couldn’t resist it. When we passed it a second time, my favorite boy toy nicely pulled off and let me hop out to take a picture of it. I think it was advertising a local dentist – not that it matters. It was so funny to see this fish at the side of the road with those bright red lips. You can see by the house to the left that it was pretty big.
That wasn’t the only first that day. We also stopped here. . .
What’s that you say? Big deal, you stopped at a car wash and gas station. But that’s the trick – it was a car wash, but it wasn’t a gas station. In fact, it was a restaurant. One that you wouldn’t know about if you weren’t a local.
My husband puts in a half day each month at an art gallery down the street where he exhibits his work. His boss there told him about this place and it was great! Not fancy, but clean and delicious.
We didn’t find too terribly much during our wanderings on that day, but it was fun and we sure did see somethings that never saw before. And that’s part of the fun of wandering – you never know what you’re going to find next.
