Share Your World – Week 11

Over at Cee’s Life Photography Blog is a great way for bloggers to get to know each other via her Share Your World Questions.  Here is week 11:

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?  These days, air travel. The seats are so small, I’m so fat, and everything about it is just nasty, from the food in the airport to how dirty everything is.  I traveled a great deal as a younger woman and enjoyed seeing different parts of the country.  But I’m glad these days to not be traveling for business anymore.

Are you a cat, dog, goat or prefer the zoo person?  I loved my little cats dearly and still miss them.  But the dogs are pretty special too – most days.  The miniature pinscher has a mission in life and that’s to protect me from everyone and everything – including the three-year-old little girl who was standing next to me when I picked him up at doggy daycare the other day.  I was so embarassed!  He turned and started screaming at her and she started crying because he was so mean.

What really makes my heart sing?  Shopping for books.  I love checking out bookstores.  They each have something different, even if they’re part of the same chain.  I go each week to see what’s new on Tuesdays.

What word or words are fun for you to say? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is certainly a favorite.  I loved the Mary Poppins movie, although it was nothing like the book.  Mary Poppins in the book is not a sweet, gentle woman.  She has much of the same mystical about her, but not in an affectionate way.

A new recent fun word is iPhoneography.  What a mouthful!  Try saying that fast three times.

Over at A Daily Life are various prompts for your blog or diary when you’re looking for new ideas, including today’s Share The World.  Another recent post showed how to embed a YouTube video into your blog.

It’s snowing here in Virginia!  Here’s a picture of how the yard looked yesterday and how it looked tonight after dark.

  1. Bookstores… oh my, I haven’t lookd in ages, of course, everything here is in Frecnh, and I prefer english so I do most of my book shopping on Amazon now. I really do miss that, though.

    • We lived in a small town for a while. I had to either shop Amazon or drive 90 minutes to a larger town. It was very frustrating to me too. I really like looking through the books and touching them.

Thanks for subscribing! That was very nice.

    • Thank you, although that photo was straight out of the camera with no post-processing. I think it really messed up the sensors having the dark sky with the white snow. It almost looked like a negative. It was really cool and I think I could duplicate it, but I’m not technical enough to explain it.

  2. That contrasting picture from spring to winter is really neat. You can have the snow, I am ready for summer now. I laugh when I say stuff like that coming from the Midwest and now living on Cape Cod where winters are somewhat mild, by comparison.

    • The winters are much milder in Virginia than Minnesota, but the houses are not insulated very well. We spend most of the winter cold and unable to get away from it.

Thanks for the compliment on my pictures!

  3. Poor little girl! I was reminded of the filthy airport in Philly I came through last year. I was on my way home from Haiti and thought “this bathroom is worse than anything I saw there!” Pretty sad statement. I hope to participate in teh Share your world post…no time yesterday but enjoyed reading everyone elses. Thanks for the embedding post.
